What are the expectations of a Sift reviewer?
- Read and review two books per month (on a schedule). The books are submitted to us for review by the authors. Sarah, our editor, takes care of most administrative duties.
- Keep your Goodreads shelf on our Goodreads account updated with your reviews and TBR list.
- Promote Sift to your followers/tweeps/friends across Social Media.
- Reviewers retain ownership of their reviews while granting non-exclusive publication rights to Sift.
- Do not accept compensation in exchange for a review.
- There are occasional optional opportunities like reviews, blog events, giveaways etc.
- You must be 18 years old or older.
- You can live anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access.
- Reviewers are uncompensated. Currently, revenue from ads is used to paid for administrative costs like hosting, domain registration, etc.
That's it! It's pretty easy and you get to read a lot of great indie books in the process, so please email us (info below) if you're interested in becoming a reviewer (or forward this post to anyone you know who might be interested). Before applying, please make sure to read our About Us & Terms as well as our Submission Guidelines.

What if you have 2 online blog sites, but no published book reviews? What about a current indy author who have 2 blog sites, but no published reviews? Or what about a current indy author who likes SF/F, but not erotica (really anything but erotica/romance) and has 2 online blog sites, drives an SUV, is currently in grad school, works full time a major university, follows you on twitter, has brown hair and loves his family but has not published any reviews? Not that I have anyone in specific in mind, just a random question really....
haha, Vincent. Go ahead and apply if you're interested. If you don't have any reviews up, could you email us a sample one along with your application?
Thanks!
Would love to! I already write for another site (not a book review site) but in all honesty with my current grad school load I do not think think I could commit to 2/mo.
I was just having fun with my reply up there partly because I want to get in to reviewing and partly because I like to have fun. Maybe I'll just write a few and toss them on my site/goodreads/etc when I have time and see if you are looking again at a later date.
Stupid question - what email address do I send to about being a reviewer??
siftbookreviews at gmail dot com. It's the link that says "email us." Sorry, should have made that clearer.
Duh ..... don't bother! The dummy found it!
